Context
After almost a decade, the Rashtriya Gokul Mission—India's leading effort to improve indigenous cow breeds—has run into a peculiar roadblock. The project's original goal was to raise the standard of all native breeds; instead, it has helped popularize one native variation, the Gir cow, across the country. About the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM) 
• The initiative is carried out under a revised and restructured Department plan from 2021–2022 to 2025–2026, with an allocation of Rs. 2400 crore.

The AHIDF plan allows for the claim of a 3% interest subvention on the loan amount, in addition to 50% of the total cost being subsidized by the Indian government.
